Week 1
To start off, I am going to tell you a little bit about child behavioral disorders. Look at it like this, all kids misbehave sometimes, but behavioral disorders go beyond mischief and rebellion. With behavioral disorders, your child or teen has a pattern of hostile, aggressive or disruptive behaviors for more than six months. I know this because I have a brother and three cousins who all have a child behavioral disorder in which I will talk more about later on. There are warning signs to knowing whether or not your child has a behavioral disorder.
Warning signs can include:
- Harming or threatening themselves, other people or pets
- Damaging or destroying property
- Lying or stealing
- Not doing well in school or skipping school
- Early smoking, drinking or drug use
- Frequent tantrums and arguments
- Consistant hostility towards authority figures.
